The Analog-Digital Hybrid Synthesizer is a thought experiment and challenge to produce the natural sounds of analog synthesizer while costing as much as a digital synthesizer.

Motivation

As long time lovers of music and engineering, the motivation behind this project came from the appreciation of the authentic sounds produced by analog synthesizers, but feeling their price tags and size made them both impractical and improbable for the amateur musician. The alternative being a digital synthesizer which produced robotic sounds but was small and cheap in comparison. Being a team of three electrical engineers and one computer engineer, it was decided that a test of our skills and knowledge would be to provide the coveted sounds of an analog synthesizer, but with the size and price of a digital synthesizer.
