Water scarcity is becoming one of the biggest global issues. The unnecessary use of water is a notable problem in worldwide agricultural activity since the irrigation systems used by farmers supply inadequate amounts of water to crops. Using traditional mass irrigation techniques such as manually operated sprinklers and/or water channels contributes to the waste of the limited resource.
Greenie is an easy-to-use and portable smart irrigation system that allow users to monitor and irrigate herbs remotely, making the gardening process hassle-free. It takes care of different kinds of commonly used herbs in a smart manner by providing careful maintenance and data that is going to help the plant to stay healthy. Using real-time information from the sensors, the system will decide whether to turn on/off the water pump automatically. A weather information is also provided to the users so they can turn on/off the water pump manually based on weather conditions on a given day. Greenie implements a more local approach, giving individuals the chance to help their communities and the global population in water utilization.
