What is BackUp Buddy

The Backup Buddy Backup Camera looks to put backup cameras on all motor vehicles, especially older vehicles that lack the safety feature. Our design includes a mountable assembly that the user can put on the back of their car, and a smartphone app to see the camera feed. Video is sent using WiFi, and the system appears as a network for your phone to connect to. Extra data from a series of distance measuring sensors is also displayed in the app to provide the driver with an exact distance to obstacles behind them. Data from these sensors is also used to provide audible warnings to the driver should something suddenly cross behind them at an unsafe distance. Backup Buddy provides all of these safety-enhancing features and does so in a package that takes very little time to install and put to use immediately. Most aftermarket backup camera systems require you to run a long wire from the back of your car to an external monitor on the dashboard, making it very clunky and drawn out process to install in a car. Our design looks to not only minimize this clutter, but make use of the powerful phones we take with us everywhere we go. Backup Buddy offers a chance for all cars to have a backup camera and makes driving on the road even safer.
