Short Range 3D Scanner.

Our short range scanner was specifically designed to recreate physical objects into their detailed digital representation. This design was based on previously manufactured 3D scanners. Our aim was to reduce the cost of the scanner by using simple but good quality components. The SR3D will be used by anyone who wishes to get the digital representation of any medium sized object. Basically, our main goal is to enclose a camera, laser, stepper motor, and a rotating platform to automatize our design which can be portable to everywhere you want to go. The dimensions are relatively small compared to what it is available in the market. After we place the object in the rotating platform and we begin the scanning, we will be able to process digitally with computer vision algorithms the most accurate shape of that object. In terms of power consumption, we are aiming for a low power - high performance 3D scanning. Our project won’t only be able to scan, but also it will reduce the time spent in the scanning process which will make our SR3D faster than other 3D scanners out in the market.
