GOLD (Glucose Optical LED Detector) is a novel approach to solving the problem of occlusion in diabetes readings, which is currently required for accurate testing. The GOLD system is a solution that uses a light emitting diode (LED) to transmit a near infrared signal through water or a glucose solution. Using the properties of the glucose molecule and the appropriate absorption bands, it is possible to differentiate between water and the target molecule, glucose. The GOLD system also comes with an Android application that tracks user data with a functional database and appropriate security measures such as login with secure authentication is used in conjunction with personal data encryption.
