On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, I would like to welcome you to Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at UCF.
The ECE's vision is to offer the best undergraduate education in electrical and computer engineering, to achieve national and international prominence in selected areas of graduate study and research, and to foster partnerships and contribute to technological and economical advances in the State of Florida, the nation, and the world.
Read the whole welcome message here.
ECE faculty and students pursue fundamental and applied research in a wide spectrum of subjects.
Learn more about our research.
Industry involvement is essential to the success of the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science's (EECS) educational and research mission. Strong industrial support ensures that EECS' research and educational efforts address the needs and challenges of the industry, while supporting and enhancing our infrastructure, students, curriculum, and research.
Our faculty members are working professionals with advanced degrees who are dedicated to expanding their own knowledge and sharing what they've practiced for years with our students. They combine academic theory with real-life industry knowledge for a quality learning experience.
The team consists of researchers from UCF ECE, NREL, HNEI, Siemens, GE, Duke and OPAL-RT, and it is led by Professor Zhihua Qu. Their proposal, entitled "Scalable/secure cooperative algorithms and framework for Extremely-high penetration solar integration (SolarExpert)" aims at designing and developing a scalable architecture and a set of algorithms for distributed control and optimization. These solutions will be highly scalable, data-driven, and capable of fully optimizing power system operation and planning.
